OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES                                               

 

INTRODUCTION

The CareerVid Video Contest (“Contest”) is a contest offered to Participants who want a chance to win the Grand Prize of a $500 college scholarship, or one of the less valued prizes offered. These are the Official Rules for the Contest.  No purchase necessary to win.  Void where prohibited.  Subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations..

 

ELIGIBILITY

The Contest is open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are at least 16 years of age at time of entry.  All Participants must either now attend or plan to attend a post-secondary educational institution such as a college, university, or trade/technical school.   Employees of Sponsor and its affiliated companies as well as the immediate family of each such employee (defined as parents, spouses, children, sibling or other household member) are not eligible.  A minor (a person under 18 years of age) submitting an entry should receive his/her parent’s/guardian’s permission and include his/her parent’s/guardian’s name and daytime telephone number on all official entry forms.  If a minor wins a prize, the prize shall be awarded on behalf of the minor to the minor’s parent or guardian, who must provide the required identifying documentation.  Participation in this Contest constitutes Participant’s full and unconditional agreement to these Official Rules, which are final and binding in all matters related to the Contest. Winning the prize is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements set forth herein.

 

TIMING

The Contest begins at 12:00 a.m. ET on July 1, X and ends at 11:59 p.m. ET on July 31, X(the “Contest Period”).  Sponsor’s computer is the official time keeping device for the Contest.  Proof that you registered and uploaded a video to enter this contest does not constitute proof or evidence that an entry was actually received within the Contest Period. Entries submitted become the sole property of the Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned.

 

HOW TO ENTER 

During the Contest Period, the Sponsor invites you to enter the Contest by completing and submitting the online contest registration form and uploading an original career video of a person (“Subject”) who has worked one or more years in a profession, shown performing work tasks and discussing with the audience his/her job within that profession.  The online contest registration form, which can be obtained at http://www.careervid.com/contest, must include your full name, email address, phone number, year of birth, and address.  P.O. Boxes are not permitted.  If you are part of a group, each member must enter their information onto the form.  However, the Sponsor will only communicate with the contact person, the person tasked with using his/her email address to submit the registration form and whom the Sponsor assigns the task of communicating with other team members.  In the event of any dispute among team members, Sponsor will not intervene, and only acknowledges the authorized team leader.  Use of any automated system to participate is prohibited and will result in the disqualification of your entry(s).  Participant assumes all risk for inaccurate, incorrect, illegible or incomplete entry of information or for entries which are damaged, defective, late, lost, not viewable, or delivered as postage due, any of which voids entry.  By submitting the registration form and video, you are certifying that you have read and do agree with these Official Rules.

 

 

 

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

All entries must: (a) be in English; (b) not exceed 5 minutes in length; and (c) be in .MOV, .AVI, or .MPEG format.  The Subject of each video must be shown answering all questions from the “Questionnaire” we have provided on our website along with any questions Participant has added to enhance the quality of the entry or to further enlighten the audience.  You must also instruct the Subject to follow the self-introduction format required at the beginning of each video by providing his/her first name, job title, location and type of work place.  An example would be as follows:  My name is Mary and I’m a supervisory civil engineer for a Chicago based engineering firm.  Although the first name of your Subject must be used in your video, the last name can never be used.  Additionally, your entry must not contain any trademarks, copyrighted works or intellectual property owned by another party, nor can it display or mention the name of any person or company for which you have no signed release.  Content must be intended for a family audience and must not contain any nudity, sexually explicit, disparaging, libelous or other inappropriate content.  Sponsor reserves the right to reject any entry that it believes violates any content related requirements.

If the content of the video does not meet the requirements listed within these Official Rules, the video will be deemed ineligible.

 

USE OF VIDEOS

By submitting an entry to this Contest, the Participant unconditionally assigns and transfers to Sponsor all rights, titles, interest and claims it now has or may in the future have to the entry (the submitted video), whether acceptable or regardless of the form it takes and to further grant Sponsor the right to use, modify, publish or advertise the video without further acknowledgement, approval, or compensation unless prohibited by law.  By entering this Contest, Participants agree to defend, release and hold harmless Sponsor from and against any claims, action or liability for injury, loss or damage of any kind resulting from participating in this contest or from the acceptance or use of prizes awarded.  The Sponsor reserves the right to verify eligibility qualifications of the winner(s).  By submitting an entry, each participant understands and agrees that all entries must be posted online. US law governs these contest rules.

 

Any winner may be required to show proof of being the authorized email account holder.

 

JUDGING

All eligible entries will be judged on the following criteria: (a) Content; (b) Visual Quality;       (c) Sound Quality: and (d) Technical Quality.   The entry with the highest combined score will be declared the grand prize winner.  In the event of a tie, the entry with the highest score after re-judging will be declared the grand prize winner.  Potential winners will be notified via email and will have 72 hours to respond.  If the potential winners do not respond during the required period, the Participant with the next highest score will then be declared the grand prize winner and will have 72 hours to respond to email notification.  Only three (3) alternate drawings will be held after which the prizes will go toward a future contest to be held by Sponsor.  Each Participant selected as a winner must comply with all terms and conditions set forth in these official rules with winning being contingent upon fulfilling all requirements.  Participants agree to be bound by the rules and decisions of the judges, whose decisions are final. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

PRIZES

The Grand Prize winner will receive a prize of a $500.00 scholarship.  If the winning entry was entered by a team of more than one person, the prize will be divided into equal shares to be awarded to all team members.  No transfer or substitution of prizes may be made, except by Sponsor, and must be accepted as awarded.  In the event that any prize cannot be awarded for any reason, Sponsor will award a prize of equal or greater value.  Any required federal, state and local taxes related to the prizes are the sole responsibility of the winner(s).   Acceptance of any prize constitutes permission to allow Sponsor and its agents to use winner's name, likeness, and video entry for purposes of advertising and trade without further compensation or consideration unless prohibited by law.  Sponsor shall have no liability or responsibility to award any prize where: (a) any required documents are not fully executed and received by Sponsor at the designated address by the due date specified in these Official Rules; or (b) if any mail addressed to the potential Winner is returned to Sponsor as undeliverable without a forwarding address or if potential winner cannot be contacted for any reason; or (c) potential Winner is deemed ineligible or otherwise non-compliant with any aspect of these Official Rules.Sponsor reserves the right to award only the stated number of prizes among all legitimate eligible prize claims.

RELEASE

In accepting any prize, winner agrees to release and hold harmless Sponsor, and their respective subsidiaries, affiliates, suppliers, advertising/promotion agencies, and prize suppliers (collectively, the "Released Parties") from and against any claim or cause of action, including, but not limited to, personal injury, death, or damage to or loss of property, arising out of participation in the Contest or receipt or use or misuse of any prize. The Released Parties are not responsible for: (a) unauthorized human intervention in the entry process or the Contest; (b) technical or human error which may occur in the administration of the Contest or the processing of entries; (c) technical failures of any kind, including, but not limited to interruptions, malfunctions, or disconnections in phone lines or network hardware or software; (d) late, lost, stolen, damaged, or undeliverable mail.

 

CONDITIONS

By participating in this Contest, the Participant hereby warrants and represents that the entry submitted in this Contest does not infringe upon the rights of any person or entity and that such Participant has obtained all permissions and rights required to lawfully participant in this Contest.  Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules. Participant shall indemnify Sponsor against all claims, damages, liabilities and expenses arising out of any and all connections to the use of Participant’s entry.  Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, suspend and/or modify the Contest, or any part of it, if any technical failures, fraud, or any other factor beyond Sponsor's reasonable control impairs the integrity or proper functioning of the Contest, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. If for any reason the Contest is not capable of being executed as planned, Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend said Contest.

 

USE OF PERSONAL DATA

Information provided by Participants to the Sponsor will be used for the purpose of contest registration, contact with Participants regarding the contest, contest evaluation, contest winner contact, contest winner announcement and contest advertisement.  Sponsor will neither sale nor share any personal data of the Participants or Subjects with any other party.  Nor will the personal data collected for this Contest be released for any reason other than the purposes expressed in this document. 

DISPUTES

Except where prohibited, Participant agrees that: (a) any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest or any prize awarded shall be resolved individually without any intervention by Sponsor, and without resort to any form of class action; (b) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering this Contest, but in no event attorneys' fees; and (c) under no circumstances will Participant be permitted to obtain awards for, and Participant hereby waives all rights to claim, indirect, punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses, and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased.
